Yesterday, we discussed the Wachovia Visa Buxx card. Since Wachovia promotes this Visa Buxx card as a hybrid among a debit card, a Wachovia gift card, and a prepaid credit card, we thought that we would highlight the Wachovia gift cards. This article will review these Wachovia gift cards.
Among the other banking products offered by Wachovia online banking, Wachovia gift cards are a very convenient product that can be used anytime you need to buy someone a gift in a hurry. Many times when I go to buy someone a gift card, I struggle to figure out which store card to buy them. I often don’t know their shopping tastes or which stores they shop at. These Wachovia gift card take all of the guess work out the decision. The person you are buying them for can use the card anywhere that Visa credit card is accepted. Being able to shop at any store that accepts a Visa credit card is a huge advantage.
You can buy these Wachovia gift cards in denominations from $25 to $600. This gives you great flexibility for which occassions you can use these Visa gift cards. If you are buying a friend a gift to say thank you, a $25 gift card might be the right choice. The Wachovia Visa Buxx card is a very unique Wachovia gift card created to help parents teach their children about money and spending money wisely. This article will provide a review of this Wachovia Visa card.
The Wachovia Visa Buxx card allows parents to transfer money from their Wachovia checking account or savings account to the prepaid visa card. No longer do parents have to worry about their children being stuck without money or going on a shopping spree and racking up a ton of credit card debt. Anywhere that you can use your Wachovia debit card to make purchases or withdrawals, the Wachovia Buxx card will be able to be used.
Using the Wachovia online banking website, parents can monitor their kid’s spending habits. Instead of giving your kids money and not knowing how they are spending it, the Wachovia Visa Buxx allows you to check up on how your kids are spending money. Some parents might be worried about their children buying cigarettes or alcohol. Other parents might just be worried where their kids are hanging out. In addition to being able to monitor your child’s spending through the Wachovia online banking website, you can set up the Wachovia Buxx card to send you an email every time your kid uses the card. The monitor capabilities of this unique prepaid credit card are great.
Another great feature of the of this unique Wachovia visa card is that you can set it up with an automatic deposit to this Buxx card from your Wachovia banking account. If you typically give you child $20 allowance, you can set up your accounts to make this deposit every week.
This unique twist on a prepaid credit card or debit card gives parents a ton of flexibility. If you don’t like the idea of your child being able to use the card to withdrawal money from an ATM, you can set it up to prohibit such transactions. Typically the card does not allow more than $100 to be withdrawn from an ATM over a seven day period, but you can reduce this to what you feel comfortable with.
The only thing that I don’t like about the Wachovia Visa Buxx card is the fees that are associated with using it. Everytime you load money onto the card, Wachovia will charge you $2.00. Additionally, there are other usage fees and overdraft fees. I encourage you to read the Terms and Conditions at the Wachovia.com website before you sign up for one.
